Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ChatterVoice.

What can I do with ChatterVoice?+

ChatterVoice is one app with three ways to connect across languages: Instant Translated Messaging (text), Real-Time Voice Translation (voice calls), and Real-Time Video Translation (video calls). All three translate instantly between English and Spanish in both directions.

Instant Translated Messaging

What is Instant Translated Messaging?+

ChatterVoice lets you text someone in your own language while they receive your message in theirs. You type in English, they read it in Spanish — or the other way around. Messages translate automatically and instantly, with no phone number or SMS required. This is an in-app messaging system between ChatterVoice users.

How many translated messages do I get on the Free plan?+

The Free plan includes 100 translated text messages as a one-time introductory allowance — not 100 per month. Once you have used all 100, translated text messaging is blocked until you upgrade to a paid plan. You can still sign in, read your conversations, and manage your account; only new translated messages are paused.

Do paid plans limit translated messages?+

No. Every paid ChatterVoice plan includes Unlimited Translated Messaging. You can send as many translated messages as you like — 100, 1,000, or 10,000 — and they never count against your voice or video translation minutes. Text messaging and voice/video usage are tracked separately.

ChatterVoice Unlimited

Is ChatterVoice Unlimited really unlimited?+

Yes. The ChatterVoice Unlimited plan ($99.99/month) includes unlimited translated messaging, voice translation, and video translation for normal person-to-person communication. Unlimited service is subject to our Fair Use Policy, which protects the service from spam, automation, fraud, account sharing, and other abusive activity. Legitimate heavy use is not automatically treated as abuse — the system looks for combinations of suspicious signals rather than relying on usage volume alone.

Can I see the original message?+

Yes. ChatterVoice stores both the original message and the translation. Tap a message and choose "View Original" to see exactly what the other person typed in their own language.

Voice Translation

How does Voice Translation work?+

On a voice call, your speech is recognized, translated between English and Spanish, and spoken aloud to the other person in their language — and in reverse. The Free plan includes a limited one-time voice translation allowance. Paid plans include a monthly minute allowance. When your Free voice allowance is exhausted, voice translation stops and you can upgrade to continue.

Video Translation

How does Video Translation work?+

On a video call, you see and interact with the other person while ChatterVoice translates the conversation live in both directions. The Free plan includes a limited one-time video translation allowance (shared with voice). Paid plans include a monthly minute allowance. When your Free video allowance is exhausted, video translation stops and you can upgrade to continue.

What languages does ChatterVoice support?+

ChatterVoice currently supports English and Spanish. More languages are coming, but for now the first version is focused on real-time video and voice translation between English and Spanish only.

How does ChatterVoice work?+

When you speak in a video or voice call, your voice is processed through speech recognition, translated between English and Spanish, and converted back to speech so the other person hears it in their language. On video calls you still see each other while the conversation is translated. It works in both directions — English ↔ Spanish. For text messaging, your typed message is translated instantly and delivered in the recipient's language.

Is ChatterVoice free?+

You can create a ChatterVoice account for free. The Free plan includes 100 translated text messages (a one-time introductory allowance) plus limited voice and video translation. Paid plans include Unlimited Translated Messaging plus monthly voice and video minute allowances.

Is the translation perfect?+

No. ChatterVoice uses machine translation, which can contain errors. You should independently verify any important information and should not rely on it for emergency, medical, legal, or other situations where translation errors could create serious consequences.

Will more languages be added?+

Yes — more languages are coming. We are keeping the first version focused on English and Spanish so we can build a great experience before expanding.

Is my conversation private?+

ChatterVoice is designed with privacy in mind, but voice translation involves speech recognition, translation, and text-to-speech processing. See our Privacy Policy and Data & Voice Information page for details.

Does the person I invite need a paid ChatterVoice plan?+

No. If you have a ChatterVoice plan with available translation minutes, you can invite any registered ChatterVoice user to a translated voice or video conversation. Your available minutes are used for the conversation.

Can I invite someone who is on the free plan?+

Yes. The person you invite can participate using your available translation minutes. They do not need to purchase a monthly subscription to join your conversation.

What happens when I run out of minutes?+

You can enable Pay-As-You-Go and continue translating by paying per additional minute (rates vary by plan), or upgrade your plan for more included minutes each month.
